The airport occupies an area of just under six and a half kilometres square, and has four terminals. Terminal A is mostly domestic flights, while terminals B, C and D are for international traffic. Despite it’s ability to handle 25 million passengers per year, there are future plans to increase it’s capacity to around 32 million in 2010, and 38 million by 2015.
The airport has a car park for 5,700 vehicles, and both long and short term parking are available. There is also a regular bus ‘Bus 1’ which runs through central Palma and takes about 30 minutes travel time. Taxis are also available as is car hire; and most people opt for one of these two latter options.
The airport has all the usual facilities that you would expect to find in any major airport these days, from a bank and ATM machines, to numerous bars and restaurants, including some that are open 24 hours a day. There are a good number of duty-free shops, from tobacconist to toy shop, shoes, jewellery clothing, and gift shops. There is also a pharmacy, and a first aid service available. There are two VIP lounges in the airport, as well as conference and meeting facilities. There is no left luggage facility at the airport however. There are also no hotels within the Airport grounds, but hotel reservations for a number of hotels in the city of Palma can be made from the airport.
