This Mallorcan hotel is found within two rustic 16th and 17th century former manor houses, set amongst terraced orange groves and ancient olive trees beneath the Tramuntana mountains. The style of La Residencia is relaxing and rustically Mediterranean, as befits its location, and throughout the resort is furnished with a luxurious take on traditional Mallorcan style. Rooms look out through shuttered windows over fruit, flower and herb gardens.
The hotel’s guest rooms are decorated in calm natural tones, with crisp white linen and traditional antique Mallorquin furniture. There are sixty-seven rooms, with a range of accommodation from single rooms, ‘superior doubles’, to a selection of suites, including ‘Junior’ – all with a four-poster bed, and the unique ‘Tower Suite’ situated in the ancient tower building.
The oldest part of the hotel building, thought to have been first built as watchtower by the Knights Templar, has magnificent views in all directions providing a superb panorama of the mountains, village and sea. This suite offers a truly romantic hideaway suite, built on two levels and accessed by a stone spiral staircase. The first floor has a bedroom and luxury bathroom, and on the top floor the spacious lounge area is found with luxurious fittings, all forms of modern entertainment, and an outdoor private sun terrace.
La Residencia sits close to the village of Deià, where the spectacular backdrop of mountains falling to the sea, and the vivid Mediterranean light has long inspired artists. This artistic heritage is reflected within the resort and hotel, which displays a large collection of paintings and sculpture by artists who have lived and worked in Deià and other parts of northern Mallorca over the last forty years. In addition, there is a calendar of exhibitions, an extensive programme of events and master classes for guests, and an artist in residence.
Facilities for residents at La Residencia are varied and high-quality. There is a fully equipped modern gymnasium, and tennis facilities are some of the best in Mallorca, with two courts, a pro-shop, and a professional tennis coach on hand for tuition. Tennis breaks are very popular at the resort, as are spa packages for those seeking a more serene form of relaxation.
The resort spa has an indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, gym and six treatment rooms – four with private outdoor massage areas. Individual treatment plans are available from resident beauty therapists, as are daily programmes, and throughout the year there are specific beauty packages available. For all other activities, the resort’s Leisure Concierge service is on hand to make arrangements, whether you want to take a helicopter ride, a diving excursion, or one of various cultural tours.
The nearby village of Deià is home to a number of fine restaurants, and the resort boasts a famous and highly regarded restaurant, El Olivo. The restaurant is found in the old 16th century manor house’s former olive press and serves exquisite food and wine. The resort’s other restaurants are Son Fony, where breakfast is served al fresco, and the Pool Bar-Restaurant which offers a lunch menu specializing is fresh fish, and stunning mountain views.
La Residencia is found in a beautiful part of the northern Mallorcan coast, situated in a fine position between the mountains and the secluded bays of the dramatic coastline. Perfect for a replenishing rustic retreat, and just forty minutes from Palma airport, the resort and spa, with its excellent facilities and diverse activities, can offer a truly unique and personal luxury holiday experience.
