Family holidays in Majorca are exciting because of the wide variety of places and attractions to visit as well as outstanding clear water, sandy beaches, and other spectacular views and adventures. Three of the popular choices are Palma, Puerto Pollensa, and Santa Ponsa.

PALMA
is the capital of Majorca (Mallorca) and is a Mediterranean seaport. It is one of Spain’s most beautiful small cities and boasts of a magnificent cathedral, great shopping, international cuisine restaurants, old-timer trains that take you back in time, and much more.

Have fun taking a brightly painted double-decker bus to about 15 of the popular sights. During the 12-hour day, you can get off and on as often as you want to.

Be sure to see the majestic Le Seu Cathedral that took from 1229 to 1601 to build and which is still undergoing restoration to maintain its splendor. The high stained glass windows, the bishop’s throne, the crown of lights inspired by Gaudi, and other unusual features make this cathedral unique.

Behind the Cathedral is the Old City with many of its private houses on narrow streets open to public view as museums or galleries. Enjoy the interesting architecture similar to that in Florence, Italy.

For the adults looking for exciting night life, the Gran Casino Mallorca offers shows such as artists Kool & the Gang and Michael Bolton in addition to the normal casino activites. Abaco in Old town is the most decadent bar in the island; and even though it charges a premium for its cocktails, you get to sit in a romantic old courtyard surrounded by fresh flowers and fruit. The seafront’s Puro Beach Club is a venue to dress up and impress the other visitors. The Son Amar Dinner Theater has outstanding ballet acts, special effects, and good food.

PUERTO POLLENSA is one of the prettiest locations on the island. Located on a sheltered bay on the Mediterranean Sea, the large marina is filled with luxury yachts and renowned restaurants and hotels. A popular pastime is to stroll in the evenings on the pedestrian Pine Walk which goes along the beach for approximately two miles. Often you will find artists and musicians there for your entertainment.

Formentor is a secluded cove where you can swim or visit the hotel that Agatha Christie featured in her “Problem At Pollensa Bay”. You get there by bus or boat in an hour scenic trip.

SANTA PONSA
is in the southwest part of Majorca and is named after a Roman village. It is especially frequented by visitors from Britain, Scotland, and Ireland. There are many traditional restaurants for those visitors including Irish ones with live music.

Santa Ponsa has three full-size golf courses a short drive out of town and is thus a golfer’s paradise including the most difficult course in the Balearic Islands. However, visitors can only play on one of the courses. For the whole family, there is Golf Fantasia, a mini golf course with waterfalls, caves, and tropical gardens.

Also popular are water parks such as the Western Aquatic Park and Aqualand and if you are staying in a villa in Majorca on holiday and have access to a car then getting to any of the islands waterparks is easy
