Andratx is located in the southwest of Mallorca and is the largest town in that area of is the island. The town was built well inland which was a tactical defence against pirate attack (port andratx lies 4km from the main town). Antratx to the naked eye could be could be described as pebbledash pasted onto the foothills of the serra de tramutana mountains.
One of the most delightfull things you can do in andratx is people watch. Head out at 8pm any summer evening and you will see bars and restaurants full of majorcans chatting and relaxing.
Every Wednesday morning is Market day and also another great chance to soak up the atmosphere.
One building you can’t moss is the huge centre cultural andratx www.ccandratx.com. It’s an ultra modern private space for art exhibitions.
Similarly the 16th century castell de son mas which was originally a Renaissance defence tower that now houses the town hall
Accommodation in andratx is limited so you are better heading along to the busier port antratx.
